Thursday 29th October 2026 3rd Australia-China Energy Transition Forum (& 19th ISETS Energy Transition Forum) Decarbonising Supply Chains: Understanding the impact of China’s New Ecological Environment Code (2026) on Australia's trade with China. 中华人民共和国生态环境法典 29th October, Adelaide South Australia In Association with Australia-China Cooperation on Sustainable Aviation Focus: In August 2026, China introduced its new Ecological & Environment Code, a breakthrough body of legislation enforcing green modernisation, industrial decarbonisation, circular economy, mandatory disclosures and product carbon footprint (PCF) reporting. Key elements of the Code are being enforced across China’s National “Green Industrial Parks”, with the Code transforming compliance from a checkbox exercise to delivering real industrial ecological value creation, and with hard fiduciary penalties. (工业生态产品价值实现). Shifting environmental management from ‘end-of-pipe’ annual reporting to being a core driver of new high-quality productive growth. The Code requires enterprises to be legally accountable for their product carbon footprints which now requires detailed supply chain reporting, traceability mandates and exposes businesses to liability risks that not only impact Chinese domestic companies, but those ‘upstream’ in supply chains. Australia included. Showcasing pioneering research and active industry case studies, ACETF#3 2026 will stimulate cross-border exchange on the opportunities from greater collaboration on the green energy transition and work towards tangible outcomes in trade and investment.
