🌸Día de Muertos – Community Celebration Join us for a meaningful Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration at Minor Works Community Centre in Adelaide. Día de Muertos is a Mexican tradition that honours loved ones who have passed away through colourful altars, flowers, music, memories, food and community. This special afternoon is an opportunity to learn about the meaning of this beautiful tradition, celebrate life and share memories together. What’s happening: 3:00 pm – Cempasúchil Paper Flower Workshop Create your own marigold-inspired paper flowers and help decorate our community altar. All materials are provided. Places are limited, Registration required. 4:00 pm – Altar Elements & Community Storytelling Discover the meaning behind the colours, flowers, candles, photographs and other elements of a traditional Día de Muertos altar. There will also be an opportunity to share stories and joyful memories of loved ones. Bring a framed photo of a loved one to place on our community altar, and, if you wish, a small item representing something they loved—such as a favourite food, drink, hobby or pastime. 5:00 pm – Altar Viewing, Live Acoustic Music & Hot Chocolate Take some time to appreciate the community altar while enjoying live acoustic music and warm Mexican hot chocolate. 6:00 pm – Altar Dismantling We will come together to respectfully take down the altar and close the celebration. Everyone is welcome! You are invited to bring a photo of a loved one to contribute to our community altar. All ages and cultures are welcome to participate. Come along to make flowers, share memories, discover Mexican tradition and celebrate life through music, art and community. 📍 Minor Works Community Centre 22 Stamford Street, Adelaide SA 5000 📅 Sunday 1 November 2026 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Workshop places are limited, so registration are required.
