Modernist Adelaide Walking Tour | 18 Oct 11am

Discover Adelaide's mid-century architecture of the 1950s–1970s. Step into the mid-century jet age of Mad Men-era Adelaide, when a new wave of modernist architecture transformed the city's streetscapes and skyline. Many of Adelaide's finest examples of 50s, 60s and 70s architecture still stand today, often walked past without a second glance but well worth a closer look. From Australia's first curtain-wall high-rise of the 50s, to the International Style of the 60s and the brutalism of the 70s, this one-hour walk through downtown Adelaide traces three decades of architectural revolution. Led by award-winning mid-century architecture enthusiast Stuart Symons, it's for anyone with a love of design, history, or simply looking up and noticing the beauty in Adelaide's everyday buildings.
