Join us for a hands-on training session to introduce you to phytoplankton counting and identification. Learn how to collect and examine water samples, identify phytoplankton with our new Tomlov microscopes, and understand the role of phytoplankton monitoring in detecting and responding to harmful algal blooms. This practical workshop is an opportunity to build local knowledge and monitoring skills while contributing to a better understanding of our coastal environment. This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Anastasiia Snigirova a marine biologist and microalgae expert studying ocean microplastic contamination at Flinders University and Samantha Sea, award winning citizen scientist and founder of the Phytoplankton of South Australia project. For event enquiries please contact the Port Environment Centre on 0488 229 925 or email [email protected] The Port Environment Centre is funded by Green Adelaide with additional support from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the Suzanne Elliott Charitable Trust. Attendee information may be used for follow up evaluation, in order to assess the longer term impacts of our events. Follow up contact may be made (in the form of a survey) but participation in any evaluation is optional.
