Full description from organizer

As educators, you know the transformative power of laughter— and Commedia dell’Arte is the original master of LOL. With its universal language of slapstick, satire, and archetypes, it belongs to everyone. Make A Scene is on a mission to reboot this rich theatrical tradition and equip teachers with tools inspired by pop culture and the socio-political landscape. Join Rosa Campagnaro for a hands-on, fast-paced Commedia workshop that’s part promotion, part pedagogy, and 100% here and now. Following the success of Homemade Comedy (Drama Victoria Award Winner 2020), Rosa launches Commedia Rebooted (https://www.makeascene.com.au/online-on-demand/) a bold, brand new, highly accessible online Commedia platform— packed with in-depth tutorials, behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage, comprehensive lesson plans and full-length shows. ‘Flip your classroom’ with this comprehensive digital-age-ready resource by letting Make A Scene deliver the foundational skills, so you can focus on the fun and practical. Perfect for ensemble, playmaking, solo performance, satire, slapstick and more. This is Commedia for the modern educator. Inspire your students with this smart, playful tool for unpacking the zeitgeist and flexing those critical thinking muscles through Commedia! BIO: Rosa is a director, performer, and educator with a NIDA (Directing) MFA and a passion for bold, physical theatre. As founding Artistic Director of Make A Scene, she brings her work to schools and theatres across Australia and internationally. Trained in Commedia dell’Arte, the Lecoq method, and devising with Frantic Assembly, Rosa blends the absurd with the sublime. Her adaptations of The Servant of Two Masters and Pinocchio (Currency Press) were performed at La Mama, and she received a Drama Victoria Award for her digital resource Homemade Comedy. Inspired by Franca Rame, Rosa creates theatre that makes you laugh… and think. Longer biography here: https://www.makeascene.com.au/about-us/
