Two-Day Masterclass Workshop in Yarn Making

An immersive, hands-on weekend inside a working woollen mill. Ever wondered what really happens inside a woollen mill? Join them for a two-day Yarn Master Class and step inside otheir r working mill for a rare, hands-on experience of commercial yarn making. Over the weekend, you will work directly with the machinery used to card, spin and ply their yarns, guided by their small, experienced team. You will gain insight into the fibres they use, how they behave through each stage of production, and how key decisions shape the final yarn. Shared in an intimate, small-group setting and offered only occasionally, this workshop provides practical experience and a deeper understanding of yarn making. By the end of the weekend, you will take home approximately 300 grams of a limited-edition yarn that you helped create. This two-day master class includes an introduction to GOR Woollen Mill and their production processes, a detailed look at the fibres they use and how fibre choice impacts yarn, hands-on experience operating carding, spinning and plying machinery, guidance throughout the full yarn-making journey, from raw fibre to finished skein and lunch on both days. Group size is limited to six participants. Minimum of four participants are required for the workshop to proceed.
