ARTIST WORKSHOP Morning Musings Retreat with Geoffrey Burns Sunday 4 October, 10am–12pm $20 per person, including all materials and refreshments Step into the quieter side of Fish Lane on a Sunday morning and join artist Geoffrey Burns for a relaxed morning of slow looking, drawing and creative exploration. Moving through the precinct’s subtropical planting, laneways, architecture and street art, Geoffrey will share some of the ways he observes and responds to the environment within his own practice. Using simple drawing materials, participants will be guided through a series of exercises focused on looking closely, noticing texture, rhythm, detail and the small shifts that can easily pass us by. From there, everyone will be encouraged to take their own approach and spend time exploring and drawing within the precinct at their own pace. Held in conjunction with Geoffrey’s exhibition at PARKER Contemporary, the morning is less about producing a finished work and more about slowing down, paying attention and experiencing a familiar environment in a different way. No previous drawing or art experience is needed. All drawing materials and refreshments are included in the ticket price.
