Eat Your Neighbourhood! Urban Foraging for Wild Food

Join local urban permaculturalists, Dick and AJ, as they explore the urban commons and find the many foods available in our city beyond your front gates. In this workshop you'll enjoy learning about and sampling edible weeds, plus discover the secret fruits and nuts of the city, as well as the benefits of the sharing economy. As we ramble over our 2.5 Hectare Farm, Dick and AJ will show you that some of the tastiest, nutrient-packed food isn’t found in the supermarket but all around you! Youth Offer This workshop is suitable for teenagers, accompanied by mum, dad or another adult guardian, who has also paid to attend the workshop. About the Facilitator Dick Copeman has been a medical doctor, environmental activist and permaculturalist who helped found Northey Street City Farm in Brisbane in 1994 and initiated Northey Street’s permaculture design certificate training courses. His particular interests are in garden ecology, permaculture design, tree and perennial crops, bush regeneration, bush foods and food preparation. AJ is a permaculturalist with a passion for educating people about the beauty of nature and our interconnectedness with all life. He is a gardening 'jack-of-all-trades' who works at City Farm Nursery but also Youth Education and Community Composting at Northey Street City Farm, AJ holds a Permaculture Design Certificate.
