Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) Course The Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively manage workplace fire safety, emergency preparedness, and evacuation procedures within Queensland facilities. The program develops the capability to identify and control fire risks, coordinate emergency planning and response activities, manage emergency control organisations, and ensure compliance with fire safety legislation and organisational requirements. Designed for Fire Safety Advisors, facility managers, building managers, WHS personnel, supervisors, and emergency wardens, this comprehensive course combines practical exercises with nationally recognised training to prepare participants for a key role in workplace emergency management. Units of Competency Included • PUAFER001 – Identify, Prevent and Report Potential Facility Emergency Situations • PUAFER002 – Ensure Facility Emergency Prevention Procedures, Systems and Processes are Implemented • PUAFER003 – Manage and Monitor Facility Emergency Procedures, Equipment and Other Resources • PUAFER004 – Respond to Facility Emergencies • PUAFER005 – Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation • PUAFER006 – Lead an Emergency Control Organisation • PUAFER007 – Manage an Emergency Control Organisation • PUAFER008 – Confine Small Emergencies in a Facility Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion, participants will be able to: • Identify and manage fire and emergency risks within a facility. • Implement and maintain emergency prevention systems and procedures. • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and resources. • Respond effectively to facility emergencies. • Perform the duties of an Emergency Warden and Chief Warden. • Lead and manage Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) operations. • Coordinate evacuations and emergency communications. • Use portable firefighting equipment to safely confine small emergencies. • Support compliance with Queensland Fire Safety Advisor requirements and relevant legislation. Participants who successfully complete all requirements will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the above units and be equipped to undertake Fire Safety Advisor responsibilities within their organisation.
