About our sounds: kansha 感謝 is a platform and network that brings together Meanjin’s finest emerging improvising creatives, intent on exploring original compositions and sounds that find home in connection, gratitude, intention and community. Through opportunities such as the kansha 感謝 sessions, kansha 感謝 aims to advance creative musicians through its dedication to originality, diversity and place. The beating heart of kansha 感謝 is the kansha 感謝 sessions, a monthly gathering that invites the community to share in the explorations of the artists within the kansha community. The beauty of these sessions come from the wide variety of creatives that can appear at any given session, from straight ahead jazz musicians to folk singers, visual artists and everywhere in between. This diversity of discipline, gender and ethnicity creates a sense of genuine collaboration that extends beyond the boundaries of kansha 感謝, with established members of the creative community and visiting artists often being a part of the sessions as well. With this deep reverence for spontaneity imbedded in the sessions, audiences and artists are always bound to find surprises galore at these performances. These are creatives sharing what they love.
