Full description from organizer

The Social Policy Group is pleased to partner with QPASTT and Third Queer Culture to deliver an upcoming in-person introductory inclusive practice training for Queensland service providers working with people with diverse sexualities, gender identities, bodies and relationships from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Facilitated by QPASTT and lived experience leaders from Third Queer Culture, the training will centre peer-led insight, trauma-informed approaches and culturally responsive practice. The session will focus on strengthening inclusive practice within everyday service delivery. The goal is to equip practitioners with foundational knowledge, reflective skills and practical approaches that help create safer, more welcoming and accessible services for LGBTIQA+ clients, while recognising their strengths, resilience, and the unique risks many face across their resettlement journey. This face-to-face training will be available to Queensland settlement services staff (including SETS, HSP, AMEP and other adjacent settlement programs), LGBTIQA+ services and other community services who work with LGBTIQA+ people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. This training is supported by the Social Policy Group in our role as a settlement peak body, free, but with limited places. Once capacity is reached, additional expressions of interest will be added to the waitlist. For any questions, please contact the Social Policy Group via the SETSCoP Secretariat on [email protected].
