This year; we take it up to 11 with Hostage Takeover: featuring International Comics and deep dark sets by actual Aussie veterans, this is the night of nights in the military community. A chance for veterans and current serving to unwind; put your boots up&nbsp;</p><p>and have a relax&nbsp;with us, and for curious civilians to join our world for trauma-themed hilarity.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Headlined by Daniel Connell</strong> - one of Australia&rsquo;s most recognisable comedians, known for his dry, understated and brutally relatable style of humour. Before becoming a full-time comedian, Daniel lived and worked in Canberra, where he started his comedy career while working in Defence &mdash; as the guy who read and redacted your mail [redacted].</p><p><br></p><p>Connell has appeared on Channel 10&#39;s Have You Been Paying Attention and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Daniel&#39;s comedy style is observational, unpretentious and often gloriously inappropriate. He has been described as wry, self-deprecating and occasionally dark, and quintessentially Aussie.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>MC&#39;d by Mike Goldstein&nbsp;</strong>straight from your screens - Channel 9&#39;s the Hundred with Andy Lee, Goldstein is an American comedian [redacted] who has spent years earning his stripes in Australia &mdash; from brutal mining-camp comedy gigs to some of the country&#39;s biggest comedy stages and television shows.</p><p>A former lawyer (not linked with Shellshocked for legal reasons (anymore)) who eventually traded the courtroom for the microphone, Mike has developed a reputation for sharp, rapid-fire and unapologetically inappropriate comedy. His style is particularly well suited to audiences who prefer their humour straight, dark and without a lot of hand-holding [allegedly].</p><p>Mike has performed extensively across Australia and internationally, opened for comedy heavyweights including Jim Jefferies, Doug Stanhope and Tommy Tiernan.
