Biodiversity Puzzle & Community Planting Morning Join SOWN, Yoorala Street West Bushcare Group, and People For Nature for a fun, family-friendly morning celebrating biodiversity and taking action for nature. Start the day by exploring the fascinating world of biodiversity through an interactive puzzle game. This science-based, participatory activity helps participants discover what biodiversity is, why it matters, the benefits it provides to people, and the main causes and consequences of biodiversity loss. Suitable for both adults and children from 10 years old, the game encourages discussion, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of how nature connects to our everyday lives. After the puzzle session, roll up your sleeves and put your knowledge into action with a community planting activity led by SOWN and the Yoorala Street West Bushcare Group. Together, we'll help regenerate native habitat, support local wildlife, and contribute to a healthier, more resilient environment. Whether you're passionate about nature or simply curious to learn more, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your local community, learn something new, and make a positive difference for biodiversity. Families and children from 10 years old are warmly welcome. No prior knowledge or experience required. About Citizen COP Australia Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations. https://www.peoplefornature.org.au/citizen-cop About People For Nature People For Nature is a volunteer-powered environmental charity empowering communities through climate and biodiversity education, citizen conservation, and science. We believe that when Australians understand and connect with nature, they’re more likely to protect it — safeguarding our climate, ecosystems, and well-being. About Save Our Waterways Now Save Our Waterways Now (SOWN) is a volunteer-led environmental charity restoring and protecting the Enoggera Creek catchment in Brisbane's north-west. Working with Brisbane City Council, SEQ Water, land holders and local community groups, SOWN assists more than 40 bushcare groups, delivers environmental education and citizen science programs, and operates a community native plant nursery producing up to 70,000 locally native plants each year. Through bushland restoration, water quality monitoring, corporate volunteering and community events, SOWN is helping improve biodiversity, waterway health and habitat connectivity while inspiring the community to care for the local environment. About Habitat Brisbane Habitat Brisbane Yoorala Street West Bushcare Group Work along Yoorala Street has been undertaken by two dedicated bushcare groups: the western section, established by Athol Brown in 1995, and the eastern section, established by Vera and Fred Moffat. Together, these groups have worked tirelessly for decades to rehabilitate this remarkable area of critically endangered Subtropical Lowland Rainforest. The groups continue this important work today under the leadership of Ed Bennett and Renee McGlashan, protecting and restoring this valuable habitat for future generations. This is a public session by People For Nature in collaboration with Save Our Waterways Now and Habitat Brisbane Habitat Brisbane Yoorala Street West Bushcare Group.
