Join the ANU National Security College for a special conversation with Nicholas Rasmussen, former Director of the US National Counterterrorism Center and a senior US national security and counter-terrorism practitioner. Drawing on more than two decades at the centre of US counter-terrorism policy, including his work in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and as Director of the NCTC, Rasmussen will reflect on the evolution of the terrorist threat, the transformation of counterterrorism practice and the challenges facing governments today. The conversation will explore the legacy of 9/11, the lessons – and unintended consequences – of the response that followed, and how the counter-terrorism community has adapted as the threat landscape has evolved. This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from a senior practitioner who has been at the heart of US counterterrorism policy for much of the post-9/11 era. Light refershments will be served.
