ACT General Practice Cultural Safety - foundational session (virtual)

Examine how racism and bias shape culturally safe care and consider practical steps towards more equitable healthcare practice. ACT GPs, GP Registrars, general practice nurses, nurse practitioners, and other general practice staff are invited to participate in a free virtual foundational session delivered by the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association (AIDA). This session explores how racism and bias influence clinical systems, decisions, communication, and patient outcomes. Recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a key social determinant of health, racism contributes to inequitable outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through reflection and discussion, participants will examine how these forces shape culturally safe care and consider practical steps towards more equitable healthcare practice.
