About this event

Full description from organizer

Join Shirali Davé, Birds on Farms Project Coordinator (ACT-Yass) with BirdLife Australia, for an engaging presentation and Q&A on the vital role woodland habitats play in supporting native birds and maintaining healthy rural landscapes. Working across the ACT, Yass, Goulburn and Crookwell regions, which extends down to Bungendore, Shirali collaborates closely with landholders through BirdLife Australia's Birds on Farms program and long-term woodland bird monitoring projects to deliver practical conservation outcomes on rural land. In this presentation, Shirali will explore why woodland birds matter, the challenges they face due to habitat loss and fragmentation, and the simple, practical actions landholders can take to improve habitat without compromising farm productivity. Learn how bird-friendly farming and backyard practices can support biodiversity, enhance landscape resilience and contribute to healthier, more sustainable properties. Drawing on BirdLife Australia's Bird-Friendly Farm Guide and woodland bird identification resources, Shirali will share insights into habitat connectivity, paddock trees, waterways, tree hollows and other key habitat features that help native birds and wildlife thrive. Whether you're a twitcher, farmer, landholder, conservation enthusiast or simply interested in local wildlife, this is a great opportunity to learn how managing habitat can benefit both birds and farms across our region.
