Fibres and Fabric Workshop: Focus on Stretch Fabric

This workshop blends theory with practical aspects as you learn about the fibres used in fabrics, how to identify fibres and the various construction of fabrics. Join us as we discuss, take notes and sew seam samples under the guidance of local fibre artist, Merle Horgosi. With a focus on stretch fabrics, we will explore their different construction methods and application with Merle, while discussing what you need to know to make your own stretch garments at home. The workshop will be tailored to you and your sewing machine, so you will be able to take your new skills and knowledge to sew items with confidence. BYO sewing machine and any fabrics from home you would like help identifying. A list of materials needed on the day will be emailed/messaged to you before the workshop (these include basic sewing items you most likely have at home, with the exception of a stretch or jersey needle).
