Full description from organizer

Hosted by the Centre for International and Public Law at the ANU Law School. International law plays a vital role in Australia's legal system, shaping questions ranging from constitutional interpretation and the exercise of executive power to human rights, sovereignty and Australia's engagement with the international community. Since Federation, the High Court of Australia has played a significant role in determining how international law interacts with Australian domestic law, while also contributing to the development and understanding of international legal principles. Join us for a seminar exploring these important questions through the lens of a new book by Christopher Ward SC, International Law before the High Court. The seminar will also feature commentary from Jesse Clarke, General Counsel of the Office of International Law, Attorney-General's Department, and Sarah McCosker of Lexbridge Lawyers, bringing valuable perspectives from government and private practice. This event will be of particular interest to academics, legal practitioners and students interested in international law, constitutional law, public law and the relationship between Australia's domestic and international legal obligations.
