Set across 54 hectares (133 acres), the Government House estate combines historic significance, expansive gardens, heritage buildings, and and collection of trees and landscapes. During this guided tour, you will explore: The estate is home to more than 1,900 trees, representing an extraordinary collection of native and exotic species. Among the most significant are a Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora) believed to be more than 400 years old and a Deodar Cedar (Cedrus deodara) planted in 1841. Visitors will also discover the estate's collection of commemorative trees planted by visiting dignitaries, Governors-General and their spouses. The first official commemorative tree planting at Government House was an Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica) planted by the Duke and Duchess of York in 1927. Royal connections can be found throughout the grounds, including recent plantings by Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, as well as commemorative plantings by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
