Fundamental Drawing Term 4 2026 - Tutor Tony Bramwell

Tony teaches using a shape-recognition approach, demonstrating how the structure of almost any object can be understood through six basic shapes and their role in building a drawing. Students begin working in pencil, establishing fundamental skills that provide a solid foundation for later tonal studies involving light and shade. The course also explores the principles of perspective, including both linear and aerial perspective, to help create a convincing sense of depth and three-dimensional form. Tony provides reference materials and practical demonstrations, with hands-on exercises that students can follow and apply to their own work. Key topics include composition, shape, tone, and visual structure—essential elements that support the development of artwork in any medium. Materials- A3 sketch book 2B/4B pencils Students are responsible for cleaning their personal workspace at the end of each class in preparation for the next session.
