This highly practical workshop combine The Spelling Mastery International Edition is a structured, evidence-based spelling program built on the principles of Direct Instruction (DI). Designed for students from Years 1–6, the program explicitly teaches spelling through phonemic, morphemic and whole-word strategies using carefully sequenced instruction, cumulative review and daily practice. The new International Edition has been updated to reflect British English spelling conventions while maintaining the proven instructional design that has made the program successful for decades. This full-day professional learning equips teachers with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required to implement Spelling Mastery with fidelity. Throughout the day, participants will move beyond simply learning how to teach the lessons and develop an understanding of why the instructional design works, ensuring every lesson maximises student success. Teachers will unpack the structure of the program, learn the instructional routines, practise delivery techniques, analyse common student errors and develop confidence in maintaining high levels of engagement, pacing and mastery. The training includes multiple opportunities to rehearse lessons, receive feedback and ask implementation questions specific to their school context. By the conclusion of the day, participants will be prepared to deliver consistent, highly effective spelling instruction that improves spelling, reading and writing outcomes for all students.
