AOWA Tasmanian Onsite Wastewater Symposium 2026

Join AOWA for the Tasmanian Wastewater Symposium 2026 — a day of technical insight, practical solutions and industry connection focused on designing and managing onsite wastewater systems in diverse and challenging environments. The symposium will bring together designers, engineers, regulators, installers, consultants and industry professionals to examine how better design, stronger performance and practical innovation can deliver healthier environmental outcomes. The Tasmanian symposium will begin on the afternoon of Thursday 17 September with a field trip to the Southern Beaches area, where attendees will gain first-hand insight into the Southern Beaches Wastewater Project and view local examples of wastewater management in practice. A bus will provide transport to Primrose Sands, approximately 45 mins southeast of Hobart where we will have the opportunity to observe some of the challenges faced by the coastal community. This will be followed by networking drinks at at the Hope and Anchor, sponsored by EnviroTas. The actual symposium day of Friday 18 September will feature an international keynote presenter, Dr Sara Heger, who will share US and international experience relevant to the challenges faced by Tasmania and other cool-climate and constrained-site environments.
