Fit to Rent: Healthy homes in hot summers and cold winters | Renters Forum Hobart (Tasmania)

Far too many Tasmanian renters are living in homes that were never designed for today’s climate, especially with the heatwaves that are becoming more frequent and intense. That means homes are uncomfortable, unhealthy, and too expensive or impossible to properly cool and heat. Renters can’t insulate a ceiling they don’t own, they can’t install solar on a roof that isn’t theirs, and so they bear the brunt of the discomfort and the power bills, while the upgrades sit outside their control. Join Renew and Tenants Union of Tasmania in conversation as we discuss our research on Minimum Energy Efficiency Rental Standards (MEERS). We will also share tips for making rental properties more comfortable. Summer is right around the corner.
