Storytelling Through Movement! With Holly - ages 8 - 14 years

The workshop will collaboratively develop an adventuring story, implementing dance, movement, and games to explore storytelling and moving our bodies. This workshop is suitable for ages 8-14 and aims to reinforce positive connections between movement, community, and play. We will experiment with storytelling and play with the imaginary to create a narrative through group activities. By the end of the workshop, we may have traversed treacherous volcanoes, rescued royalty, or become pop stars! No experience required. What will I learn? New ways of seeing dance as playful, movement as fun, and connection as fulfilling! What will I take home? A new openness to play and confidence in yourself and your body! Is there anything I need to bring? A water bottle, lunch and snacks, and clothes to move in. If your child has any needs (physical and/or information processing, or other, please let Kickstart know so that we can do our best to accommodate these). Everyone is welcome! About your tutor Holly has been amongst Hobart’s theatre community for the past 4 years and has developed a passion for accessible movement and youth entertainment. Alongside studying to be a drama teacher, she has performed in and choreographed for children’s pantomimes for years, occasionally working as a party princess or as a children’s entertainment host. Holly believes greatly in the power of accessible movement education for fun, health, and community!
