Banyule - Confidently moving onto the road on your bike

Join this practical bike riding skills session where we will review and practice the skills that develop control and confidence before moving onto those we use in traffic and finishing with an on-road group ride putting everything into practice. We'll start in a traffic free environment where our friendly Instructors will take you through basic but essential bike control skills and then move onto those you need to safely negotiate on-road scenarios. With a break for lunch (BYO lunch) in the middle of the day you'll have plenty of time to digest everything you've learned, and make some new friends. After lunch we will learn about safe road positioning, communicating with traffic, strategies for negotiating common road scenarios such as roundabouts, hook turns and pinch points. This course is commissioned by City of Banyule and delivered by the professionals from Bike it Better. You can book just the morning session if you are not yet ready to move onto the road, or book the full day. Fee: $25 full, or $5 concession Who is this session suitable for? • Adults who are currently riding on shared paths and want to feel confident moving onto local roads. • Suitable for all types of human-powered bicycles, including folding bikes and electric bikes that are legal to use in Victoria. (We cannot accomodate converted electric bikes, e-bikes that don't comply with regulations nor electric motorcycles) • Participants must live, work or study in the City of Banyule, The schedule for the day 10-12:30 - Skills practice 12:30-1:00pm Lunch (BYO) 1-3:00pm Theory, skills practice and on-road ride.
