Dumplings Against Depression 2026: Momo Edition

Dumplings Against Depression is back for 2026, and this year the dumplings are momos. Come and share a free plate of Nepalese momos with us at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda. Dumplings Against Depression brings together community members, people with lived experience, peer workers, clinicians, students and leaders to talk openly about mental health in multicultural communities, over food. Last year more than 250 people joined us at the Immigration Museum. This year we are choosing momos to stand with the Nepalese community after the devastating floods in Nepal. WHAT HAPPENS ON THE NIGHT Free dumplings and refreshments: momos and other dumplings, with vegetarian options. Expo: 30 stalls from organisations working across multicultural mental health and its intersections, including LGBTIQA+ communities, disability, faith, youth, older people, refugees and new arrivals. World Cafe table talks: small groups sit at tables and talk about three questions. What gets in the way of good mental health care for multicultural communities? What is working? What is not? After each round you move to a new table, so ideas travel around the room. A host at each table keeps notes. A public report: with your permission, we will gather what is said at the tables into a report and share it with the sector and government. WHO SHOULD COME Anyone with an interest in multicultural mental health. You do not need to be a professional. Everyone is welcome. TICKETS Attendee: free. Expo stallholder: free, 30 spots only.
