Yet many receive little formal training in navigating the courtroom, understanding evidentiary requirements, or presenting clinical expertise under scrutiny. This immersive one-day program is designed specifically for emergency medicine clinicians. Delivered by leading experts in emergency medicine, forensic medicine, law and coronial practice, it provides practical, clinically relevant training you can apply immediately. What you'll learn By the end of the program, you will be able to: • Explain the role of criminal courts, coronial jurisdictions and medical practitioners in judicial processes • Identify your medico-legal obligations, including documentation, evidence collection and expert opinion • Apply forensic principles in practice, including assault presentations, road trauma and other medico-legal scenarios • Prepare for court appearances with confidence, including giving evidence under oath and responding to cross-examination • Distinguish between factual evidence, expert opinion and advocacy when providing testimony This workshop is approved with the ACEM CPD Program for 8 hours of Educational Activities, and fulfills the Health Outcome requirements for Ethical Practice and Professionalism.
