Training Overview This course is designed to improve participants’ knowledge and skills to effectively maintain water sensitive urban design (WSUD) assets, build organisational capacity, collaboration and commitment on the topic, and identify and drive further action to address priority issues. Street-scale WSUD assets include raingardens (bioretention), tree pits, swales, permeable pavements. Who is this course for? • Anyone responsible for the hands-on maintenance, or influencing the maintenance of, street-scale WSUD assets, such as maintenance crews, supervisors and managers. • Stormwater Engineers and urban designers who wish to enhance their understanding of the maintenance practicalities and to improve asset design. Delivery Mode & Format Duration: One-day (face-to-face) training [9:00am to 4:00pm] Format: Presentations, interactive activities, live demonstration, Q&A, site visits of local street-scale WSUD assets (application of knowledge to real-world examples), group discussion. Learning Outcomes • Understand the basic concepts of WSUD and Integrated water management (IWM) • Understand the function, design and key components of street-scale WSUD assets such as bioretention systems, swales, tree-pits and permeable pavements. • Know the maintenance needs of street-scale WSUD assets • Build your ability to carry out maintenance inspections of street-scale WSUD assets using supporting checklists. • Understand differences in WSUD asset maintenance strategies of different organisations.
