About this event
A Creative Jacket Workshop for Women When was the last time you did something just because it made you feel good? Not because it was productive. Not because someone else needed you to. Not because it was going to make you healthier, more successful, more organised or somehow a better version of yourself. Just because you liked it.

Maybe it’s blasting a song you’d forgotten you loved. Wearing something a little ridiculous. Sitting in the sun with a coffee. Making something with your hands. Dancing in the kitchen. Buying yourself flowers. Laughing until your stomach hurts. Little moments that make you feel lighter, more present or simply a little more like yourself. They’re easy to miss. Especially when life gets busy and there’s always something else that needs our attention. Style in Joy is an afternoon to slow down, notice the things that light you up and explore what happens when you give yourself a little more permission to choose them. Not because every day needs to be amazing. Not because we should be happy all the time. But because sometimes the good stuff is already happening. We just need to get better at noticing it. Find the glimmers ✨ We’ll start small. Rather than asking the enormous question of “What makes me happy?”, we’re going looking for the little things. The colours you’re always drawn to. The song that changes your mood. The person you can completely be yourself around. The place your shoulders seem to drop. The tiny rituals you look forward to. The things you loved before you cared whether they were useful, productive, cool or something you were actually good at. We’ll explore the moments, people, places, experiences and tiny everyday things that make you feel good, connected, curious, playful or alive. Some will be obvious. Some you might have completely forgotten about. Somewhere along the way, we got very sensible. As we grow up, we collect a surprising number of little rules. That’s a waste of money. I don’t have time for that. I’m too old to wear that. That’s a bit much. People will think I look ridiculous. I should probably be doing something productive. That’s just not me anymore. Sometimes those thoughts are useful. And sometimes they quietly make our world a little smaller. So we’re going to get curious about them. Where did I learn that? Is it actually true? Do I still believe it? What am I drawn to before I start talking myself out of it? What would I choose if I didn’t need anyone else to understand why I liked it? This isn’t about forcing ourselves to be louder, brighter or more outgoing. It’s about noticing where we might be editing ourselves before anyone has even asked us to. A little experiment in choosing Before we create, we’re going to play. There’ll be colours, textures, images, words and all sorts of little things spread across the room. And your job is very simple: Choose what you’re drawn to. No matching. No making it meaningful. No wondering what everyone else is choosing. No explaining why. Just noticing that tiny oooh, I like that and trusting it. Because joy doesn’t always arrive as some enormous life-changing moment. Sometimes it’s just a tiny pull towards something that feels good. And sometimes we’ve become so used to questioning ourselves that even choosing something we like can become complicated. So we're going to practise. Notice it. Choose it. Let yourself like it. And then... we create ✨ After all that, we’ll get out of our heads and into our hands. And this time, we’re making JOY JACKETS. You’ll take a denim jacket and turn it into something completely your own. We’ll cut, customise, embellish and play with an abundance of materials, tassels, trims, patches, colour, texture, sparkle and plenty of other weird and wonderful things to choose from. Make it loud. Make it simple. Add the ridiculous tassel. Choose the colour you normally talk yourself out of. Or keep the whole thing understated because that genuinely feels more like you. This isn't about making the loudest or most colourful jacket in the room. It’s about making choices because you like them. And paying attention to what happens along the way. Do you immediately wonder what everyone else is doing? Do you choose the safe option even though something else caught your eye? Do you worry whether you’ll actually wear it? Do you start trying to make it perfect? Do you change your mind? Good. That’s all part of it. Because the creative part isn’t just something we’ve added onto the end. Your jacket becomes a little experiment in self-trust, joy and letting yourself be seen. There’s no right or wrong way to create it. No sewing experience needed. No creative experience needed. And absolutely no requirement for it to be Pinterest-perfect. The only real rule? You have to bloody like it. Wear the bloody thing. At the end of the afternoon, we’re putting them on. Because there’s something different about making something you love... and then actually being willing to wear it. Maybe yours is colourful and covered in tassels. Maybe it’s weird. Maybe it’s beautiful. Maybe it's completely different from the jacket you thought you'd make when you walked in. The point isn't the jacket. It's practising choosing what feels like you and not immediately shrinking it down to make it more acceptable to everyone else. Maybe that starts with a denim jacket. Maybe it sneaks into a few other places too. Your afternoon We’ll begin with a guided meditation to help us slow down and properly arrive. From there, we’ll explore the glimmers already hiding throughout our lives, remember some of the things that have made us feel most like ourselves and get curious about some of the little rules and beliefs we’ve collected along the way. We'll play with choosing intuitively before moving into our creative experience. Then we'll make. There’ll be time to cut, customise, create, chat, laugh, have a cuppa and something to eat, and simply enjoy being somewhere you don't have to rush onto the next thing. Your afternoon includes: ✨ Guided meditation ✨ Joy + glimmer reflection ✨ Your keepsake workbook ✨ Guided questions + self-discovery ✨ Our intuitive Joy Hunt ✨ Your jacket ✨ An abundance of creative materials ✨ Your Joy Jacket creative experience ✨ Conversation + connection ✨ Tea, coffee + light snacks ✨ Your finished jacket to take home (and hopefully wear out!)
