Teach what you know: Run your own workshop or skills session

You don't need to be a professional teacher to run a great workshop. If you have a skill, hobby, or practical knowledge worth sharing, this session will give you the tools to turn it into a class others can learn from. We'll cover the practical side of planning and running a community workshop from start to finish, including: • choosing a topic and scoping what to include • deciding what to cover and how to sequence it • matching your activities to your audience (hands-on practice vs. information and demonstration) • setting the right pace and length for your session • where to host your event and which platforms to list it on • how to promote it and reach the right people • managing bookings, communications and basic admin • what to do when things don't go to plan • seeking feedback and improving next time. Whether you're thinking about running your first workshop or want to make an existing one work better, this session is designed to be practical and straightforward. Who is it for? The session is for those wishing to share their knowledge or skills with others in a class or workshop format. Additional info • The session will be held indoors. • We are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible event environment for all attendees. If you have accessibility or inclusion concerns regarding this event, contact us about how we can help. The REthink Nillumbik program is funded by Nillumbik Shire Council and supported by Edendale Community Environment Farm and NECAH (Nillumbik Environment and Climate Action Hub). The project will be delivered by Going Green Solutions and supports Council's climate action goal of net-zero community emissions by 2035.
