Your Topic: Australia’s Fabulous Fuzzballs: The Secret Lives of Our Native Mammals Celebrating Australia’s fabulous fuzzballs So, how much do you really know about Australia’s fabulous fuzzballs, aka native mammals? Come along to learn about the extraordinary diversity of mammals in Australia, their secret lives, ecological and cultural importance, and why much more must be done to conserve these remarkable animals. Your Speaker: Professor Euan Ritchie is a wildlife ecologist and conservation biologist at Deakin University in Melbourne, where he leads the Applied Ecology and Conservation Research group. His work has a strong focus on predators and their ecological roles, invasive species, fire ecology, and the conservation and management of Australian mammals. He was awarded Eureka Prizes for Environmental Research (2013) and Promoting Understanding of Science (2024). He is among Australia's most influential science communicators, regularly appearing in legacy and new media. He is President of the Australian Mammal Society and a Councillor within the Biodiversity Council. He is also a Shodan in karate, keen basketballer, gardener, and long-suffering Carlton supporter.
