Tour of the Lyon Housemuseum

Discover one of Melbourne's most memorable art and architecture experiences. The Lyon Housemuseum comprises two buildings - the Housemuseum and its adjacent Galleries. The Housemuseum at 219 Cotham Road is the former residence of museum founding patrons Corbett and Yueji Lyon. It presents a unique combination of family residence and contemporary art museum where 'museum' and 'living' are brought together in a single building. Explore an exhibition of key works from the Lyon Collection in this unique building where art and life intertwine. Designed by architect Corbett Lyon, the Housemuseum builds on a lineage of private art collections displayed in residential settings including Sir John Soane’s Museum in London, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the Frick Collection in New York. The Galleries show exhibitions of Australian contemporary art and large scale installations from the Collection. Tickets include a one-and-a-quarter-hour guided tour of the Housemuseum and self guided tour of the current exhibition in the Galleries. Tours commence at the entry to the Housemuseum at 219 Cotham Road (on Florence Avenue).
