We stomp on it!! 👣 Udon is one of Japan’s most beloved comfort foods — delicious, affordable, and surprisingly easy to make at home! In this hands-on workshop, Emi will guide you through making fresh udon from scratch, preparing a delicious soup, and bringing it all together into a bowl of goodness. You’ll learn the proper techniques for making udon, along with handy tips and shortcuts to turn it into a quick, nourishing meal for your busy days. Come on your own, bring a friend, or invite anyone who loves a bit of stomping, kneading (You can do that too!), or simply eating delicious noodles. Everyone is welcome! All profits will go to Olive Kids and Pay The Rent, after deducting food costs. And the best part? You’ll get to enjoy the delicious udon you’ve made yourself! The more we stomp (or knead), the better the udon — and the more we can raise for where the funds are urgently needed! Meet Emi: Emiko Suzuki, aka Emi, is a Naarm (Melbourne)-based Japanese language teacher who weaves cultural understanding into every lesson. Born and raised in Japan, she studied literature before moving to Naarm, where she has been teaching the language and working as a chef. With several years of teaching experience, Emi supports learners from all backgrounds and loves the connections that grow through a shared learning journey. A passionate linguist herself, she has studied Spanish and is currently learning Arabic. Through learning multiple languages and relocating to an English-speaking country, Emi has developed a lived understanding of the challenges faced when beginning a new language. In her teaching, she draws on this experience to guide students through cultural and linguistic exploration with empathy, clarity, and practical techniques for adult learners and those studying Japanese as a second or third language.
