🌍✨ World of Wonders (WOW): Malaysian Street Food 2-Day School Holiday Camp Dates: 1 & 2 October Time: 10:00am–4:00pm Options: Half-day (10:00am–1:00pm) or Full-day (10:00am–4:00pm) Ages: 6–12 years 📍 The Joyful Place Part of our World of Wonders (WOW) school holiday series, this hands-on 2-day camp invites children to explore global cultures through food, stories and play — no passport required. Jom! This time, we’re heading to Malaysia. Across two days, children will explore Malaysia’s much-loved street-food culture while discovering the art and childhood games generations of Malaysian children have grown up with. They’ll make their own Malaysian street burger, learn how to “tarik” their Milo, build a refreshing Penang cendol and eventually work together to run their own Malaysian street-food stall. 🌟 What children will do DAY 1 – Learn & Explore Discover Malaysia and its diverse street-food culture • Make Burger Ramly (Ramly-style Malaysian Street Burger) for lunch • Learn about Teh Tarik (Pulled Tea) and mamak culture before making their own kid-friendly Milo Tarik (Pulled Milo) • Discover the Wau Bulan (Moon Kite) and create their own decorative wau-inspired artwork • Play childhood favourites including Batu Seremban (Five Stones), Congkak (Traditional Mancala Game) and Lompat Getah (Rubber-Band Jumping) • Explore simple Malay words and phrases along the way DAY 2 – Create & Own • Make Penang Cendol (green jellies with coconut milk and gula melaka (palm sugar)) • Revisit savoury cooking with more independence • Recap more childhood games • Take on a Milo Tarik challenge • Work in teams to create and run their own Malaysian street-food stall • Design their stall, menu and team roles before preparing, presenting and “selling” their food • Recap childhood games ⏰ Half-day vs Full-day Half-day (10:00am–1:00pm) • Cultural learning • Cooking one key dish • Eating together Full-day (10:00am–4:00pm) Everything in half-day, plus: • Drink-making • Creative art • Childhood games and challenges • Independent cooking • Street-food stall roleplay and challenges Afternoon-only bookings are not available, as afternoon activities build on morning learning and shared routines. *Recipes can be made vegetarian (but include eggs and milk) 🧺 What to bring Day 1: Please pack a snack and fruit box and a labelled drink bottle for your child. Lunch is prepared as part of the program. Day 2: Please pack a light lunch and fruits and a labelled drink bottle for your child.
