An Evening with Josten Myburgh and Friends

Join us at Gallop House on Whadjuk Nyoongar Country for a special evening with Josten Myburgh, our 2026 Prelude Composer in Residence. Award-winning experimental composer and performer Josten Myburgh presents a riverside sunset concert of left-of-field music for instruments, synthesisers and field recordings. Step into an evening of bold new sounds with a program spanning experimental chamber music, folktronica, microtonality and psychedelic minimalism. Hear captivating new works brought to life through voice, trumpet, cello, guitar, soprano saxophone and electronics. Performer highlights • Cluster Root Ensemble: A new chamber group featuring Annika Moses, Craig Pedersen, Mary Rapp and Jameson Feakes perform Josten Myburgh’s Local-scale crying. • Josten Myburgh and Jameson Feakes: New co-composed music for soprano saxophone, electric guitar and layered electronics. • Jane Harris: Solo voice and guitar. • R Glacken: An adventurous closing DJ set. Ria Zulkarnaen (Suku) will run a pop-up restaurant of some of the city's best Indonesian food on-site. This concert is proudly supported by the Western Australian Government and the National Trust of WA. Bookings are essential as places are strictly limited. About Josten Myburgh Josten Myburgh is an award-winning experimental composer and performer based in Boorloo (Perth) on Whadjuk Nyoongar Country. Josten is co-director of not-for-profit organisation Tone List, and since 2017 has curated their Art Music Award-winning Audible Edge festival alongside Annika Moses. Josten also works as an independent curator and producer, working with institutions across Australia to present experimental music programs. They have performed in concert series and festivals worldwide, and also contributed sound for interdisciplinary works in national programs including the Boorloo Heritage Festival, 10 Nights in Port Festival, Kier Choreographic Award, Perth Festival and at the Art Gallery of WA. The residency is part of the Prelude program run by the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers House Trust which supports Australian composers by offering them long-term residencies in heritage properties owned by either private trusts or National Trusts around the country.
