Bavarian Pretzel Workshop with Denise Learn how to make proper Bavarian pretzels from scratch, then enjoy them fresh from the oven as part of Farm After Five. Making a proper Bavarian pretzel at home is easier than it looks, and you do not need any previous bread-making experience to join. In this hands-on two-hour workshop, Denise will take you through the full process, from preparing and kneading the dough to rolling and shaping the classic pretzel knot. You’ll also learn about the traditional lye bath, or Laugieren, which gives Bavarian pretzels their distinctive deep brown crust and flavour. Denise will cover the safety essentials so you understand how the process works and how to approach it confidently at home. What you’ll learn • the tradition and ingredients behind a proper Bavarian pretzel • how to prepare and knead the dough • how to roll and shape the classic pretzel knot • how the lye bath works and how to use it safely • how to score and salt your pretzels • how to bake them to a deep golden brown Once they’re out of the oven, we’ll sit down and eat them while they’re still warm. You’ll leave with the skills and confidence to make your own Bavarian pretzels again at home. Who is it for?
