Mini wicking bed herb planters - water wise small space gardening

*Bring the container you want to plant, and old raggy fabric t-shirt, tea towel, bath towel or hessian bag to become the wick. Make sure it is large enough to cover the base and to come part way up the sides of your container. -Something with water holding capacity at the bottom would be perfect for the job. Your container needs to be able to be punctured in one place, part way up to allow overflow of excess water and stop the plants from drowning. -We suggest reusing an old washing basket (with a flat, non-punctured bottom, or lined at the bottom with a plastic bag) or a polystyrene foam box (fruit and veg shops get broccoli in them) available to reuse for this purpose. *We will provide the materials to make your own potting mix, along with a selection of advanced herb seedlings. Your ticket purchase covers up to 10 advanced seedlings. Additional seedlings may be available for cash purchase on the day. Make sure you wear a hat and weather-appropriate clothing such as a hat, long sleeves (or sunscreen) and closed-in shoes. $20 covers the cost of the potting mix and up to 10 advanced seedlings, as well as the information and support of people helping you make your mini garden. You need to bring a container and a piece of fabric (such as an old tea towel, old T shirt or other raggy garment) to use as the wick keeping the plants growing in the soil supplied with water.
