About this event

This two-hour adult workshop teaches fruit preserving, sun drying, and making pickles and jams. Participants learn water bath canning techniques and leave with a basic recipe list to inspire their own projects.

Does your garden produce a bumper crop you would like to preserve? Do you receive large quantities of fruits and vegetables from family or friends? Or would you like to take advantage of cheap seasonal produce? This session will cover fruit preserving using the water bath method, drying produce using the sun, plus pickles, olive preserving, cordial and jam making. You will leave with a great basic recipe list. Something is sure to inspire you to try some preserving yourself. Length 2 hours Start time Event activities will start on time, but if you are running late, you may still join. Location Inside - Binjar Room Requirements None Type of event and expectations Adult workshop space - Guests are expected to follow instructions of the program facilitator, be respectful at all times and assume responsibility for their own safety. This workshop is not suitable for children. Accessibility This is a sitting event. Accessible parking is available at front of EcoHub, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near EcoHub and services multiple routes. EcoHub is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes Reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.
