Neuroaffirming insights and tools This follow-on course is designed for those who have completed the introductory “Understanding Neurodiversity” or have alternative training and experience, providing foundation knowledge. This course is not suitable for those with no prior training. Designed for those teaching or serving neurodivergent students or clients, we explore more advanced support tools and ways to manage various conditions. We explore some of the more nuanced traits and presentations and dive deeper into the needs of neurodivergent people. We look at contemporary approaches to neurodivergent support and further behaviours, issues and experiences which are not covered in the introductory course. Topics include: • Family context of neurodiversity • Sensory issues and preferences • Common autistic behaviour patterns and profiles: Pathological Demand Avoidance; Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria; non-verbal communication; stimming; autistic burnout; hyperfocus; info dumping; meltdown; monotropism; splinter skills • The Double Empathy Problem • Proprioception understanding and support • Masking and camouflaging • Neurodivergence and gender • Tools for Impulse Control • AuDHD and common co-occurrence • Tackling stigma, ablism and neuronormative privilege • Neuroaffirming support tools This course includes: • Engaging, up-to-date materials. • Take-home resource package. • All-day catering and beverages - with dietary needs catered for. • Certificate of attendance. PRICES Standard | $325 Corporate and Government Non-Profit/ Individuals | $220 Staff of non-profit organisations, micro-businesses with less than 5 staff and self-funded waged individuals Concession | $150 Concession Card Holders paying as individuals SCHOLARSHIPS We offer a small number of scholarships to those who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend.
