A workshop for parents and caregivers to support toileting readiness, preparation and teaching strategies for young children aged 3-6 years. However, learning to use the toilet does take time and there can often be challenges. • Do you want to start teaching toilet skills with your child but are not sure where to begin? • Are you having difficulties with the introduction of a toilet routine? • Are you interested in exploring different strategies to support toilet teaching? This 2-hour workshop is designed to equip parents and caregivers with practical knowledge and strategies to support their child's toilet learning journey. The workshop will cover developmental stages, signs of readiness, preparation, and evidence-informed teaching strategies to help set children up for toileting success. Individual questions are welcome throughout the workshop. About the Presenter: This workshop will be facilitated by Debbie Atkins, an Australian Occupational Therapist with more than 30 years' experience supporting children and families within community-based paediatric services. Debbie is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading occupational therapists in paediatric toileting and continence. She has dedicated much of her career to supporting families through the toileting journey and is passionate about promoting positive, evidence-informed toileting practices for all children. Debbie has been instrumental in developing parent education programs, practical toileting resources, and comprehensive training for allied health professionals and educators. Her expertise has helped shape the way clinicians across Australia support children and families experiencing toileting challenges.
