AAA Self Drive tour: At Home (NSW)

Please join AAA for our October At Home event when we will be opening a residence in Leichhardt by Porebski Architects. Leichhardt House AAA will be opening the Leichhardt House, a residence designed by Porebski Architects. This remarkable project transforms a small 1882 worker’s cottage in Sydney’s inner west. Architect, Victoria D'Alisa said, "this project aimed to modernise the space while maintaining respect for the original structure and its historical context". The renovation involved converting the traditional L-shaped layout into a design that maximizes space and light. The house now features generous living areas, a seamless transition from the living areas to the rear garden, and new additions that blend harmoniously with the original facade. The new addition is defined by the off-form concrete walls, exposed timber ceilings and a feature marble wall that separates the living room form the kitchen. A significant aspect of the design is the use of natural light, highlighted by a circular skylight above the central void over the kitchen and a second skylight along the northern wall of the living area highlighting the off form concrete structure. Concealed behind the traditional frontage, the work preserves the streetscape while creating a surprisingly spacious and light-filled interior.’ Join Victoria as she shares insights into the design process and guides you through this beautiful home.
