Astronomy at The Calyx

A night of stargazing Discover what the night sky teaches you with our distinguished Astrophysicist Dr. Ángel Lopez -Sanchez. More than 4,000 planets have been discovered and tonight our team of experts will take you on a journey to these strange 'other' worlds. Hear from astronomer presenters about everything from space volcanoes to dark energy! Then venture outside to be immersed in a mindful star gazing activity and view the night sky through the telescopes with volunteers from the Northern Sydney Astronomical Society. These powerful telescopes will allow a personal discovery into the world beyond Earth! Each ticket now includes a complimentary glass of wine and a grazing box. This event will be delivered by A/Prof. Ángel R. López-Sánchez who is the Director of the MQ Astronomy Observatory and a celebrated astrophysicist and science communicator. He is a recognised expert in the study of how the gas is converted into stars in galaxies and how this affects galaxy evolution and has worked at CSIRO and the Australian Astronomical Observatory (AAO). His stunning astronomy time-lapse videos and photos have been viewed across YouTube, television and science museums worldwide. This event will take place regardless of weather.
