About this event Expanding the Nest: A One-Day Refresher for Parents at Western Sydney Local Health District and Westmead Hospital (ABN: 48 702 394 764) Welcoming a second child is a joyful and transformative time — but it can also bring new questions, concerns, and challenges, even for experienced parents. This one-day course is designed specifically for parents who have “been there before” but want to feel confident, supported, and prepared for the next chapter. In this practical and engaging refresher session, we will: · Revisit the labour and birth process, with updated insights and gentle reminders. · Guided tour of the birth unit · Explore new strategies for managing birth with a toddler in the mix. · Discuss emotional shifts and family dynamics as you welcome a second baby. · Provide practical tips for feeding, sleeping, and settling — with two children. · Focus on the partner’s role and how they can offer meaningful support. · Share ways to prepare older siblings for the arrival of a new baby. · Offer space to reflect, ask questions, and connect with other second-time parents. Whether your first experience was empowering or challenging, this workshop will help you feel informed, calm, and ready to grow your family with confidence. Session Format The Expanding the Nest workshop is a one-day program held on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can attend in person at Westmead Hospital or online via Zoom. The session runs for six hours and includes a scheduled lunch break. We strongly encourage face-to-face attendance to get the most out of your experience. However, if this isn't possible, online participation is available. About the Workshop Westmead Hospital's Expanding the Nest workshop is a unique childbirth preparation program that offers evidence-based techniques. The session begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.; please arrive by 8:45 a.m. for registration so the day can start on time. Eligibility for Discounted Fee · If you are birthing at Westmead Public Hospital, you are eligible for the discounted rate. · If you are booked at another hospital, the full fee applies. 📅 Recommended booking window: If your due date falls between 10th Jan to 21st March 2027. If your partner can't make it then you can bring along a support person. What can/can't I bring to the event? You may like to bring a snack. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
