Join us for the Forgotten Palestinian Cities launch, photography exhibition, and fundraiser with special guests Lux Eterna and Jazz Money. All those who seek Palestinian liberation are invited to an evening of readings from Forgotten Palestinian Cities read by some very special guests, alongside an exhibition of fine art prints from the book, which will be for sale on the night. 20% of proceeds from the sale of all books, fine art prints and ticket sales will be donated to Mutual Aid Mates. ‘My dear Palestine, what a blessing it is to be burdened with you.' For nine years, an anonymous Palestinian historian and artist has maintained the memory of the more than 400 Palestinian towns and villages ethnically cleansed during the Nakba. Through meticulously colourised archival images and gently lyrical, informative texts, Anonymous offers a rare and precious glimpse into pre-Nakba life in Forgotten Palestinian Cities. This debut collection is an immersive and stunning visual record that vividly recalls a not-so-distant past. 'This book is a pillar of Palestinian scholarship that we need more of. I reach for these images every time I need an escape from the present’s agony, and to remember that one day we will reclaim our land. Until then, we must preserve our history and continue to defy the occupation by remembering, imagining, and resisting.' - Salma Shawa Lux Eterna is a Palestinian-Australian inter-disciplinary artist and creative arts educator working across forms of performance, dance, drawing and lens media. Lux is curious about how we may map alternate cosmographies and author our approaching realities through our collective imagination and ritualised chorus work, tethering communities and animistic kinships with the more-than-human. Jazz Money is a poet and artist who works across installation, film, performance and print. She has written two award-winning poetry collections mark the dawn and how to make a basket, and the children's book The Frogs First Song.
