About this event

Cal Champagne leads a Grow the Future workshop where participants use an interactive card game to learn about regenerative vegetable growing and youth social enterprise impacts in the Bega Valley.

Full description from organizer

Workshop Overview Grow the Future is a social enterprise that creates space for young people to grow. That word grow has a double meaning. The social enterprise grows plants and produces food, and through this, grows the confidence, capacity and connection among 12- 24-year-olds in the Bega Valley.. To communicate the power of this work, the young people of Grow the Future have put together a card game, which simulates the real-world experience of growing veggies regeneratively, in an engaging and accessible way. In this workshop, Cal Champagne, Founder and CEO of Grow the Future, will be using the cards and the themes from the game to give participants insights into the world of growing veggies, and to pass on some tips and tricks to overcome some of the challenges that all growers face. This ‘ workshop inside a workshop’ will use the Grow the Future card game as a vehicle to demonstrate just how empowering growing food and plants can be, and through this, highlight the social Impacts that this regional social enterprise is creating by using g this as a vehicle for engaging and empowering young people in the Bega Valley. Who It's For This workshop is designed for adults interested in youth mentoring and 12-24yr olds. Workshop Presenter: Callum is the Founder and CEO of Grow the Future, a Bega Valley social enterprise helping young people build skills, confidence and employment pathways through regenerative farming and food production. After leading Green Connect Farm in Wollongong for eight years and working in youth resilience, he launched Grow the Future in 2023 to create meaningful opportunities for local young people facing barriers to education and employment. Why this workshop: Discover how growing food can grow confidence, skills and community. Through an interactive card game created by young people, this session offers practical insights into regenerative growing while showcasing the impact of youth-led social enterprise. Social Enterprise Festival This workshop is one of many at this year's Social Enterprise Festival, a family-friendly, hands-on and free celebration of business-for-good. Find out more here.
