Jazz Upstairs is proud to present ACROSS THE UNIVERSE Across the Universe is an exploratory take on the music of The Beatles, reworked by four of Sydney’s most respected contemporary musicians: Gary Daley (keyboards), Brendan Clark (bass) and Nic Cecire (drums). For this special show, they are joined by the amazing Carl Dewhurst on guitar and rising star, vocalist Arlo Sim. The idea is simple—take a handful of well-known songs and treat them as open material. The band leans into groove, texture, and interplay, letting the music move where it wants to rather than locking into fixed arrangements. An exploration, leading to transformation! There’s plenty of improvisation and familiar melodies surface, shift, and sometimes disappear altogether before finding their way back in. And you are sure to know all the words!
