Sym AI Open 2026

Join us for the Inter-Uni Sym AI Hackathon, a two-day build sprint at Macquarie University on 17–18 October. The challenge is simple but ambitious: pick a well-known app like Xero or Jira and build the strongest alternative you can. Working in teams of two to four, you'll get your own Sym workspace, a shared AI computer in the cloud where your team can collaborate with AI agents to build, deploy and manage a real application from scratch. Across the weekend you'll hear a keynote from the founder of Sym AI, join hands-on workshops, and get advice from mentors before pitching your MVP to the judges. The top teams will go through to a live final, competing for a share of a $2,000 prize pool. Meals are provided throughout the event, and students from every discipline and skill level are welcome, so bring your friends or find a team on the day. Hosted by the Macquarie University AI & Data Science Society in collaboration with USYD SoftSoc, USYD Statistics Society, UNSW No Code Society, UTS Tech Society and MQ Engineering Society.
