Ritz & Ghougassian Make / Process / Practice Through a selection of recent projects, Gil and Jean-Paul will explore the evolution of their work from initial ideas and observations through design development, material investigation and construction. The talk will consider the iterative nature of architectural practice: how ideas are tested, challenged and refined, and how the process of making itself can inform the architecture. Moving between drawings, studies, details and built work, the talk will offer an insight into the thinking and processes that continue to shape the studio’s evolving architectural position. - Ritz & Ghougassian established their architecture and interior design practice in 2015. Located in Melbourne, they focus primarily on the user experience and ones relationship to the built environment through an interiorised lens. Working across both public and private sectors a collaborative process ensures their work is considered and resolved. Quintessentially each of their projects is developed within a social and physical contextual framework. They place an emphasis on locally sourced materials, craftsmanship and landscaping celebrating the characteristics of each site, creating engrained relationships between environment, material and trade.
