Tea By The Brook feat. MINGUS AMONGST US

MINGUS BY THE BROOK A fiery celebration of the music of Charles Mingus Evergreen Music's 'Tea By The Brook' series returns with the mighty 'Mingus Amongst Us', a nine-piece powerhouse ensemble celebrating the extraordinary music of legendary bassist, composer and bandleader Charles Mingus. Mingus brought a fire and energy to jazz unlike almost anyone before him. His music was deeply rooted in swing, blues and gospel, while remaining fiercely modern, adventurous and unpredictable. Led by Sydney baritone saxophonist and arranger Steve Fitzmaurice, Mingus Amongst Us brings that music roaring back to life through Steve's arrangements for a nine-piece ensemble. Rather than simply recreating the records, the band captures the spirit of Mingus with big ensemble playing, incredible musicianship, spontaneity, humour and plenty of fire.
