The Mad Plotter Workshop by Irveen Kaur

Are you a Mad Plotter? Find your way to plot a novel Have you started a novel and stalled halfway through? Or do you have a great idea but no idea how to shape it into a story? Join author and educator Irveen Kaur for The Mad Plotter, a hands-on workshop that demystifies how novels are built. In this workshop you'll: • discover whether you're a plotter, a pantser or a plantser, and how to work with your natural style • learn the plot structures behind bestselling novels and find the one that fits your story • map the key turning points of your own story, so you leave with a working plan and not just notes The plot structures we'll explore: • Three-Act Structure: the classic setup, confrontation and resolution behind most commercial fiction • The Hero's Journey: your character leaves the ordinary world, faces trials and returns transformed • Save the Cat: fifteen story beats that keep your pacing tight, a favourite for genre and YA writers • Seven-Point Story Structure: plan backwards from your ending, then build hooks, plot turns and pinch points to get there • Freytag's Pyramid: rising action to a central climax, then falling action. It's ideal for dramatic and literary fiction. • Fichtean Curve: you open straight into the action and build tension through a series of crises. It's perfect for thrillers and page-turners. • Kishōtenketsu: a four-part East Asian structure driven by a twist or shift in perspective rather than conflict • Snowflake Method: you grow your story from a single sentence into a full scene-by-scene plan Whether you're writing your first chapter or rescuing a stuck draft, you'll walk away clear, confident and ready to write.
